Upper Eyelid Surgery
Eyelid skin becomes thinner and baggy due to aging (dermatochalasis), and upper blepharoplasty helps the eyes look younger by removing baggy skin and tightening lax muscles in the upper eyelids (ptosis repair). Upper blepharoplasty helps decrease hooding of the eye for a more defined eyelid platform. Incisions are hidden using the natural eyelid creases, leaving scars virtually invisible. Typically upper eyelid blepharoplasty can be performed in the office.
Lower Eyelid Surgery
Patients with undereye bags may need lower blepharoplasty to help their eyes look more rested and brighter by removing baggy skin and repositioning bulging fat in the lower eyelids. Dr. Chang is an expert in transconjunctival lower blepharoplasty using a hidden incision on the inside of the lower eyelid. The fat pads responsible for the under eye bags are repositioned into the hollow areas of the tear troughs, preserving volume and providing a youthful appearance. The incision typically heals quickly and with no visible scars.

Asian Eyelid Surgery
The goal of Asian blepharoplasty is to create a natural crease and fold commonly seen in Asian eyelid anatomy, often referred to as a “double eyelid”, resulting in larger, more prominent eyes. Asian blepharoplasty can also improve issues like asymmetry, drooping, or puffiness in the eyelids using very small incisions without visible scarring. There are major differences with Asian blepharoplasty including management of periorbital fat and epicanthal folds, and the presence of a single lid.
